Cosine Design Studio LLC has an opening in Evanston, IL. Lighting Design - Associate:
Support senior lighting designers in developing lighting design concepts by contributing to sketches and renderings, assisting in research and collaborating with other departments to ensure designs are cohesive and effective. Produce project deliverables that meet the client’s requirements and are aligned with the company’s design and brand standards (Creative Suite + other software). Seek opportunities to learn about emerging technologies and design trends to ensure that the company's lighting design strategies are always innovative and competitive. Collect and create design inspiration to communicate project objectives with clients and stakeholders (hand sketches, diagrams, renderings, photography, etc). Generate detailed lighting layouts, control zoning, and mounting sketches (AutoCAD). Calculate lighting analysis and develop supplemental reports (AGI or Dialux). Specify complete luminaire systems from the company's product library and contribute as required following company protocols (Airtable). Create physical mockups to study project specific constraints and for product quality reviews. Understand the company’s product offering (and 3rd party control systems) and the analysis between price points. Document project takeoffs for Quotations Team to request project specific details from factory partners (Bluebeam + other software). Participate in the Submittals and Shop Drawing process to validate original specifications (Bluebeam + other software). Prepare for team charrettes to brainstorm project narratives and value engineering. Present actively during weekly team meetings. Attend project site visits for walk throughs, focusing and aiming, and/or light leveling as required. Typically partnered with a design manager, project manager or technical manager. Detailed note taker during client meetings for Senior Designer (Zoom + Bluebeam). Telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the U.S. Requires travel 2-3 times per year to various project sites and conferences. Requires Bachelors in Architecture, Lighting Design, or related and 4 years of experience in the job offered, Project Designer, Project Coordinator, or related. 4 years must include experience with AutoCAD. 4 years must include experience with Photometric Rendering Software (Dialux or Agi32).
